What is moldavite?
Moldavite is a green natural glass formed about 14.7 million years ago, when a giant meteorite struck what is now the Ries crater in southern Germany. The impact threw molten rock into the air, where it cooled into glassy pieces that landed mainly in today's Czech Republic. It's named after the Vltava River (Moldau in German), where it was first described in 1786.

Moldavite meaning
In crystal practice, moldavite is known as one of the most intense stones. Because it was born from a meteorite impact, people link it with fast transformation, spiritual awakening and big life shifts. Many describe a rush of warmth when they first hold it, often called the “moldavite flush.”

How to cleanse and care for moldavite

Moldavite is glass and can chip. Store it separately from harder stones, and avoid salt water and tumbling.
How to tell if moldavite is real
Real moldavite has a wrinkled, sculpted surface, bubbles and tiny worm-like inclusions under magnification. Smooth, bright, perfectly clear green pieces are usually bottle glass. Buy from sellers who can tell you where it came from.
