What is labradorite?

Labradorite is a feldspar mineral first identified in Labrador, Canada. Its famous flash of blue, green and gold, called labradorescence, comes from microscopic layers inside the stone that reflect light like the colors on a soap bubble. A vivid Finnish variety, found in 1940, is called spectrolite.

Labradorite meaning

In crystal practice, labradorite is the stone of transformation. People use it during big life changes, to strengthen intuition and to protect their energy. Its hidden flashes of color, visible only from the right angle, are often seen as a reminder of the magic in ordinary moments.

How to use labradorite

Labradorite and the third eye chakra

Labradorite is most often paired with the third eye chakra. For a simple chakra meditation, hold it or rest it on that spot and play 852 Hz, the tone paired with that chakra, using the session above.

How to cleanse and care for labradorite

People cleanse crystals to clear the energy they've collected. Common ways are leaving labradorite under the full moon overnight, passing it through sage smoke, resting it on a bed of salt or near a larger quartz cluster, or playing a singing bowl beside it (try our sound bath).

Labradorite is softer than quartz. Avoid harsh chemicals and knocks; clean it with a soft, damp cloth.

How to tell if labradorite is real

Real labradorite flashes color only at certain angles and looks gray from others. Color that shows the same from every angle may be dyed or glass.
