What is claircognizance?
Claircognizance means “clear knowing”. In spiritual traditions, it's intuition that arrives as a complete thought: a certainty that drops in, often out of nowhere, and turns out to be right. It's one of the four clairs, alongside clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience.
Signs of claircognizance
- You just know things, and can't explain how.
- You know when someone is lying.
- Ideas and solutions arrive fully formed, often in the shower or as you fall asleep.
- You know how something will turn out before it starts.
- You often think of someone right before they call or text.
- You write or speak, and the words flow as if from somewhere else.
Claircognizance examples
- Knowing a job isn't right for you in the first five minutes of the interview.
- Suddenly knowing to take a different route home, and later hearing about an accident on the usual one.
- Answering a friend's question before they finish asking it.
Claircognizance vs clairsentience
Claircognizance knows it; clairsentience feels it in the body. A clairsentient feels a knot in their stomach about a deal; a claircognizant simply knows it's wrong.
How to develop claircognizance
- Notice the first thought. Your knowing often comes before your thinking mind starts arguing.
- Write it down before you check. Record what you knew, then what happened. The track record builds trust.
- Free-write. Ask a question at the top of a page and write without stopping; knowing often flows onto paper.
- Quiet the mind. Meditation, like the session above, clears space for knowing to come through.
- Keep a knowing journal. The 30-Night Journal has space for exactly this.
